Solutions

Expert Solution

Ans) 1)  Order: Enoxaparin 40 mg SQ daily

Available: Pre-filled syringe labeled 100 mg/mL.

100 mg = 1 ml

40 mg = x

x= 40/100 = 0.4 ml

For the dose of enoxaparin 40 mg 0.4 ml is to be injected.

2) Order: Enoxaparin 30 mg SQ q12h

Available: Pre-filled syringe labeled 120 mg / 0.8 mL

120 mg = 0.8 ml

30 mg = x

x = 30 × 0.8 ÷ 120 = 24/120 = 0.2 ml

0.2 ml is to be injected for the dose.

3) Order: Adrenalin (epinephrine) 0.5 mg IM

Available: Adrenalin 1:10,000 (0.1 mg/mL).

0.1 mg = 1 ml

0.5 mg = x

x = 0.5 × 1 ÷ 0.1 = 5 ml

5 ml is to be injected for the dose.

4) Order: Chlorpromazine 25 mg IV q4h

Available: Chlorpromazine 25 mg/mL.

25 mg = 1 ml & dose is also 25 mg so 1 ml is to be infused every 4 hrly.
