What demographic differences between species might account for some of the differences we observe at the level of the whole genome when comparing viral, bacterial, and eukaryotic genomes?
Prokaryotes : prokryotes are comprised of bacteria and archea. their genome consists of haploid, circular double stranded DNA molecule .prokaryotes can also contain non chromosomal mobile genetic elements like plamids contain less eassential genes and antibiotic resstant genes.prokaryotes have higher gene density because bacterial genes are organised into operon with multiple protein coding sequences that are transcribed as a unit.
ribosomes of eukaryotes and prokaryotes are similar indicating common ancestory , but differ in their size, sequence and structure and the ratio of protein to DNA .
prokaryotes undergo constatnt sexual reproduction via binary fusion. it is faster than mitosisi and mieosis due to no need of chromosomal sorting or allingnment. Binary fusion is a semiconservative form of form of replication because each daughter cell has one copy of daughter strand DNA
eg: bacteria
eukaryotes; eukaryotes can have a haploid DNA , Diploid DNA and polyploid DNA . DNA is a double stranded , linded organised into bundle chromosomes. eukaryotic cells may also contain nom chromosomally intergrated genetic material from mitochondria, chloroplasts, viral elements. eukaryotes exhibits several differences from prokaryotes in gene expression , protein production , and genomic regulation .
eukaryotic reproduction is slower and more complex than prokaryotic reproduction. somre eukaryotic cells reproduce sexually by mitosisi where as some can undergo sexual reproduction by mieosis.
viruses : viral genomes can be haploid or diploid and or consists of DNA or RNA . The genetic material could also be double stranded r single stranded, either circular , linear in arrangement. viruses are considered to be living form as they carry fenetic material, reproduce and evolve through natural selection.
viruses cannot reproduce without a host and are un effected by many genetic process
