First, think back to my discussion of the social construction of reality and, specifically, my discussion of how we “know” about things we don’t have direct experience with in life. Talk me through an example of that from your own life. You could discuss something you’ve not experienced directly and only “know” about because someone told you about it. Or you could discuss a situation where at one point you only “knew” what others have told you about something but then experienced it—how did that experience change what you “knew”? Finally, why do you think I keep putting “know” and “knew” inside quotation marks?

I had heard the fact that we should not become a "Yes-man" because this habit may put us in situation of dilemma and can also cause stress to our life. I realised this fact when I joined a job few years back. It was big event of my life and I did not wanted to lose that opportunity.

I was posted as a technical assistant. In initial phases of job everything was going fine and with a smoother pace. In later stages, the situations started getting worsen. I had developed a habit of saying yes to each and every work. I was doing so because of maintaining a good gesture at working place.

I wanted to maintain a harmonious relation with each and every one. All these started affecting my personal life because I was not getting enough time to spend with my friends and family members. It caused huge stress on me. I started yelling at my family members.

Irritation became an integral part of my personality. People from my personal life started worrying about my behaviour. I was finding myself unable to maintain a balance between personal and professional life. I talked to my mother and told her each and every aspect.

She advised me to say "No" to unnecessary and non related work. I started concentrating on work which was relevant to my field. I started saying "no" to those people who were simply using my talent for their own benefits.

Initially they became angry but gradually things started getting sort out. I was able to maintain a time table in which my friends and family members were also a part. Drastic changes came to my life and various negative stresses just moved out.

My proficiency also got increased which brought me a promotion. I realised the importance of making oppose and maintaining a balance between personal and professional life.
