which patient uses an oxygen nasal cannula? what is the Literflow and FiO2 for this device?
✓ Nasal cannula is used in :
- long term use of oxygen
- low to moderate Oxygen requirement
- no or mild respiratory distress
- chronic air flow limitations because a patient with hypoxaemia or hypercapnia requires low level of Oxygen delivery at 1-2 L /m beacuse a low arterial oxygen level is primary drive of patients for breathing .
✓ Flow rate is 1-6liter per minute FiO2 24%- 45%
- Flow rate liter /min = % FiO2 delivered
1L/m. =25%
2 L/m =29%
3L/m. =33%
4L/m =37%
5L /m. =41%
6L/min. =45%
