What is an information system? What are the components of a complete information system? Have you ever used an information system in your study or work? Please provide an example of an information system.

Information System is omnipresent. We all are surrounded with information systems daily, right from the smartphone to the laptop. An information system is a kind of collection of different components like collect, process, store and providing to other for decision making.

We can also define the information systems as simply the combination of technology, network, hardware and software which collects the data and process and uses clearly in organizations. Simply the main important thing is that information system converts the data into information which helps to make a decision accurately.

We have 5 major components in the complete information system:-

• Database
• Software
• Network
• Hardware
• Processes

There are different number of information systems. Some of them are:-

• Management information systems
• Executive information systems
• Transaction information systems
• Decision support systems

I have used Mangamenent informaton system at my study. Database has been created to manage the data of the teachers, students, workers etc. In that management system we can get the needed information using the database queries. See I used mysql to grab the needed information from the chunks of data. This kind of system is called as Management Information Systems.

I have worked with this kind of information system. Simply we can get required information from data. usually we can find these kind of systems traditionaly too but if we include technology and software it will become technically information system that manages and process the data and then distribute it.
