Describe and explain how one would prepare a 500ml of 0.525M solution from a 6M HNO3 stock solution.

Solutions

Expert Solution

initial                                                               final

M1 = 6M                                                     M2 = 0.525M

V1 =                                              V2   = 500ml

            M1V1   = M2V2

               V1    = M2V2/M1

                      = 0.525*500/6    = 43.75ml

volume of water   = V2-V1

                           = 500-43.75   = 456.25ml

456.25ml of water added to 6M HNo3 to converted to 0.525M HNO3
