Strategic
teams:
Strategic teams are those which provide leadership and also the
direction in which the organization must move. It ensures to keep
touch with the external environment, set key objectives, develop a
strategy and also monitor the progress of the team towards the
strategy. The board of trustees and the senior management teams
have an active role to play.
The success of the strategic team depends on a good vision and
mission statements. Most corporate strategic teams will have a
deeper communication and implementation phase of their strategic
annual calendar. And this gives them an excellent opportunity to
consider the company’s mission statements. The corporate strategic
teams can also describe their roles and how their part of work is
important for the company to achieve its objectives.
Advantages of employee teams:
- One of the advantages of relying on team work is to derive
better quality on the service provided. This is because having more
people within the team can provide more choices and alternate
solutions to a particular problem. Providing quality service to its
customers can be one of the objectives of the company.
- Production of better results. His is because employees within
the team motivate themselves for better performance which in turn
will increase the production.
- The members of the team will actively take part in the decision
making process. Hence employees have a feeling that they are part
of the total organization and concentrate more on organization’s
objectives rather than their personal benefits.
Disadvantages:
- There may be lack of recognition for individual contributions.
This is because the success of organization is considered on
efforts of the team as a whole and not on individual basis. Hence
motivation becomes difficult here.
- The system is decentralized and there is no hierarchy here.
Decentralization can lead to control problems for the management
and also have the difficulty in coordinating between the members in
the team.
