I know that the southerners were scared that Lincoln would completely get rid of slavery, I need to know some other things as well.

Southerners trusted that Lincoln would make laws that would constrain or abrogate slavery.

The election of 1860 was a critical year in our history. Seven southern states seceded from the Union quickly after the election of Abraham Lincoln. The South was persuaded that President Lincoln would end slavery. They were worried that the voices in help of slavery would turn into a minority voice.

There are new limits that must be characterized, somehow. Slavery was that issue around 150 years back. The southern states felt the central government violated its limits, and pulled back (withdraw) from the Union. [This was an insurance for singular states, in composing, as a condition when they initially approved the Constitution and were admitted to the Union.] President Lincoln felt that safeguarding the Union was more vital than protecting the sanctity of states' rights to self-represent issues that were noteworthy to the character of the country.
