ANS- The factors that account for the tremendous growth in cotton cultivation from 1790 to 1860 are as follows:-
1. The invention of ''Cotton Gin''.
2. A strain of cotton that is new, waterproof, durable, and can grow in any season.
3. Industries were set up in the north, the need for cotton material, and want for cotton-made material.
States were demanding laborers as a salve to harvest cotton. It was in the lower south. In the middle south, less dependency on slaves was there and some people didn't have slaves. In the upper south slavery was decreasing. The south was totally dependent on agriculture and agricultural practices were done by slaves only. Rather than hiring someone for agriculture, people buy slaves as it was easier to buy them. Cotton produced by the south was sent to the north to be processed into textiles and the north's economy was rising. The north was innovative in technology and they wanted to do more production. For this south needed to have more slaves to increase the production of cotton.
