Please share your thoughts on the transition period from Adolescence into Early Adulthood on why some consider it as its own period of development.
Do you think it should be considered as such?
Adolescence is a bridge between childhood and adulthood. Many critical physical, social, sexual, cognitive, emotional changes happen in this stage which are related to oneself and how one perceives and experiences this world and how these things affect one’s, family members.
Early adolescence is a period between 10 to 13 years. In this stage children grow more quickly, become more anxious and curious when they get to know what they didn’t expect or imagine, think in black and white, and need more privacy.
Middle adolescence is a period between 14 to 17 years. This stage includes physical changes like puberty, indulgence in romance and sexuality, more arguments with parents for more room and privacy, the brain keeps on changing and maturing.
Late adolescence is a period between 18 to 21 and posts that. It includes complete maturity both physical and mental. It is a gate of early adulthood and now children become more aware of their individuality and core values. They become more goal-oriented and work towards those goals. Relationships like friendship and romance become more stable. Yes, this the period of a child's own development because in this transition from adolescence to childhood child grows in its full possible ways. We shouldn't interfere in this natural process of development of a child. If we would do so we would hinder his or her proper growth.
