How are composites materials different from Ceramic ones?
List the three typical sub groups of composites materials as classified in class.
Give two examples (from each category listed above.
State the distinct engineering applications for the two materials from the three groups listed in [iii].
How are Polymer materials different from Metallic materials?
Draw the typical microstructural features associated with the three sub-categories of polymer materials
Composites are the mix or two or more elements. They consists of a main elements which hold the second element at place.
Ceramic is just like other kind of material just like metal or polymers sonif you reinforced some ceramic with steel particles it would become composite.
Following are the three typical subgroup of composite material.
1.Ceramic matrix composites(CMC)
2.Metal matrix composites (MMC)
3.Polymer matrix composites(PMC)
Engineerinh applications
1.Ceramic matrix composites
Heat exchanger and burner components
Gas turbine components
Aerospace industry
Engine exust system
2.Metal matrix composites
Used in wear resistant tritribological applications
Piston rings, brake disc brake rotator.
3.Ploymer matrix composites
Used in automotive vehicle bodies
Used in aerospace vehicles
Used in medical enstruments.
Used in packaging
Used in footware
