Kerzner's project management maturity model this model comprised of five levels. They are-

1) Common Language - In this level the importance of project management is recognised and there should be good understanding of basic knowledge about project management, along with the use of terminologies and languages. This should be common for all in order to learn basic things about how project management is being done.Everyone should understand the process of project management which will help in running the project smoothly.

2) Common Process- Here, common processes is needed to be developed. So,that successes and failure can be monitored, successes are meant to be repeated whereas the failures needed to be avoided on other projects. This levels influence and supports the methodologies employed by the company.

3) Singular Methodology- Here in this level, all the various methods are combined into a singular methodology for the better control of the project. In this level risk and degree of difficulty is high as because,of the methodologies implementing in the project.

4) Benchmarking-As the name says, this level states to set a benchmark which helps in reviewing the necessary improvements required to be done on a continuous way. The firm must set benchmark, “whom” and “what” to implement for the better control.

5) Continous Improvement-The firm evaluates with the help of above level benchmarking ,and decides whether theer is any need of improvement or not. And accordingly the singular methodology will be used if needed, for the continuous improvement.

Example suppose a company XYZ -

follows the Kerzner's model then.

Leve- 1) Company people/employees should have understanding of the languages and terminologies used within the firm and must understand the work of projects and its managements. Terminologies like-Batch,Critical Path,Assesment,Constarints etc.

Level 2) Every activities run and must go through a certain process with the setted output by the company. Here XYZ has set certain ton of output per batch and so,the processes will be done and if there will be any changes needed in case of failure like-less output due to machinery of raw material problems then they will be avoided.

Level 3) Various methods is being used but for the improvement XYZ has used one methodology in place to usiong various methods in order to reduce the disturbances and have good control over the process.

Level 4) XYZ has set the benchmark like- for 1st batch 1 ton of metals or any other items. If its not set they cannot review their performances on each project. Here, they will decide what and to whom they benchmark.

Level 5) On the basis of the benchmark they had set,on that they will evaluate the performance of the project and according to that it will be continued otherwise the methods or processes will be changed.
