DIFFERENCE BETWEEN MULTICULTURALISM IN CANADA & US:

1)Canada was the first country among the world to declare multiculturalism as their state policy.

whereas in US, they considered the concept only later on.

2) Canadian multiculturalism was the best where in a foreigner coming to Canadian land behave in his same culture.

But in US case, the multiculturalism is just in words, every foreigner is required to be Americanized when they come to US.

3) Canada have mosaic culture, where all the cultures are given their own position.

US is a melting pot mode of culture, where all the cultures are melted into a common culture in a homogenous form.

4) There was official act passed in Canada, “Canadian multiculturalism act”, but there was no such acts passed in US.

5) Both countries adopted multiculturalism in education system. But in US the curriculum and syllabus and educational activities where regulated by each states, so only some states did It well. In Canada it was implemented in a best way.

6) In Canada all the schools and universities are open to everyone of any background, culture and any financial status. But in US, only financial sound and well child can study in the university.

7) Also in Canada their educational syllabus are multi-ethnic. Whereas in US, they mainly teach about their national happenings and their history. It’s not multi-ethnic.

8) The healthcare facilities are equally provided to each individuals and its mostly government funded in Canada. But the case is different In US, where the health facilities are very costly there.

Leads to more peaceful situation in the country for all citizen, mainly the immigrants are enjoying the peacefulness to live in the country.

Canadians could learn from the other people with different cultures.

Reduces or completely remove the prejudices against minority group.

Leads to better education for every individual both the natives and for immigrants

More job opportunities for all.

DISADVANTAGES OF CANADIAN MULTICULTURALISM

Sometimes the increased number of immigrants can reduce the opportunities of the native people.

More pressure on the Canadian government to manage the people on the country.

Sometimes this good multiculturalism can lead to over population.

There is chance for social harmony destruction due to the mix of culture if they are not well maintained.

Not much peace is enjoyed by the immigrants of US, as they stick more on to their culture.

Less respect is given to other culture in US, compared to other countries.

Education is also mono ethnic , only US based history and national cases are taught in education.

Multiculturalism is not maintained equally in all regions as states are making the decisions there.
