Discuss why a management/business process change is the more appropriate intervention over a training intervention. Write two paragraphs.
A training intervention is designed to meet the performance needs of an organization by developing training programs, implementing the learning in work and evaluating the performance to understand the impact. The effectiveness of the program depends upon the utilization of the learning achieved by the employees in improving their performance and the learning capability of the individual in the case of training intervention. But in the case of management or business process change, the current processes undergo changes in order to improve the efficiency of the process. Hence the organization can ensure performance improvement if they are able to streamline the processes efficiently and can effectively communicate the changes to the employees. The impacts are visible after the implementation but it takes more time to evaluate the impacts in a training intervention.
Another fact is that training intervention requires providing training to all the employees and it will be difficult, costly and time consuming in large organizations due to the presence of more employees. The training needs to be given in batches which take more time to complete. But in the case of a management/business process change, the entire process or organization as a whole undergoes change during implementation. Moreover business process change is more effective while comparing to a training intervention because the employees must undergo changes to stay in the organization when there is a process change but training intervention does not demand so. Hence a management/business process change is the more appropriate intervention over a training intervention.
