The food and beverage department and its housekeeping counterpart employ the vast majority of the employees in a full-service hotel. These departments are very labor-intensive because it is not practical to use technology to replace human workers in these areas. To what extent do you think technology will replace employees in the food and beverage department in the future? Why?
The way of doing business is changing to a great extent and with the advancement of technology, organizations are increasing the use of technology in any field in order to get rid of manual intervention and reduce manual error as well but there are still certain sectors and field where technology cannot replace manual efforts and one such industry is the food industry. Although we understand that various processes in such industry has been taken over by technology but still there are processes like the cooking aspect, selection of ingredients and recipe are still manual because we understand that adjustment based on requirement and preference is required and therefore technology has not taken over.
It is quite clear that in order to be able to be a successful entity in the business world today, organizations need to have a blend of manual automation processes so that they can ensure that their business has a mix of both which will help them move forward and also achieve a competitive advantage over the other competition in the industry too. I believe that with time and progress we will observe that more than 50% has been replaced by technology.
