ANSWERS -

1) Computer networks is an interconnection of autonomous computers.

There are mainly 4 types of computer networks, they are -

  1. LAN (Local Area Network) - Used within a building or small area. Home, office , school
  2. PAN (Personal Area Network) - Area covered upto 10km. Revolves around a single person
  3. MAN (Metropolitan Area Network) - Covers an entire city.
  4. WAN (Wide Area Network) - Covers large area. Boots branches in country.

2) TCP/IP (Transmission control protocol/ Internet Protocol) which allows to communicate on a interconnected network with a set of rules.

Unlike OSI model, TCP/IP protocol basically consist of 4 layers they are -

  1. Application layer
  2. Transport layer
  3. Internet layer
  4. Host - Network (Network Access layer)

Network layer in TCP/IP model provides connectionless service and it doesn't have separate section layer and presentation layer and follows horizontal approach.
