1)Following are the functions of the Missisipi Department of Heal water supply division

a)Ensuring safe drinking water to the citizens who use the public water supply

b)Testing the water to find any microbiological,chemical and radioactive wastes

c)Finding and closing any operational/maintenance issue that may affect the quality of the water

d)Ensuring that all the public water supplies follow the standards

2)Yes radon is a problem in Missisipi as more than 3 percent of the houses in Missisipi is found to have Radon levels more than the allowed level ie., 4 piocuries of radon per liter of air

The main difference between the long term and short term test is Short term tests finds the radon level only over a particular period of duration wheras long term tests identify the radon level over the perios of 90 days.
