1. A person is considered medically to have lead poisoning if they have a concentration of greater than 5.2 μg (micrograms) of lead per deciliter of blood. What is the concentration in parts per billion (ppb)? Assume 1 mL of blood weighs 1 g.
Given concentration of lead per deciliter of blood is 5.2μg/deciliter
= 5.2μg/0.1L since 1 deciliter = 0.1L
= 52 μg/L
= 52 ppb since 1 ppb = 1μg/L
Therefore the concentration of lead is 52 ppb
