Many countries now struggle to provide cost-effective, quality healthcare services to their citizens. Saudi Arabia has experienced high costs along with concerns about quality of care in its public facilities. To address these issues the country is currently restructuring their healthcare system to privatize public hospitals and introduce insurance coverage for both foreign workers and citizens.
Based on the statement given explain the following points:

My answer
1. It’s true that many countries struggle to provide cost effective care in public hospitals.
2. If we go back and see the history of Saudi Arabia health care system
In 2002 the Saudi health care system is started by a royal decree to ensure the provision of health care to all Saudi Arabia citizens
later in 2004 in Saudi Arabia there are 1848 primary healthcare centres and 200 hospitals.
2. Components of Saudi health care system
There is a three level health care system in Saudi Arabia
a.primary
b.secondary
c.Tertiary
These tiers correspond to health care Centers and hospitals. Three health sectors are considered in this review - MOH, government sector and private Sector.
3. Challenges of Saufia Arabia kingdom currently facing are
a. Increase in the population
b. Increased cost of treatment and medical expenses
c.concerns about quality and safety of care
d. Increased chronic diseases
e. Less electronic ehealth system

Health care in Saudi Arabia is a national health care system in which the government provides health care services through a number of government agencies.
During 1925 a public heath department was established in Saudi Arabia by the decision of King Abdul Aziz Al-Saud. After that in 1926 first school of nursing was opened and followed by the school of health and emergency in 1927.
In 1951 the establishment of the Ministry of Health established which expanded the health care system in the country. After that one ordinance in 1980 from the ministry came that result in the conglomeration of the administration of health centers and dispensaries into one unit. At the end of 1980 there were 1640 PHC’s, 253 hospitals with 38955 beds. In 1993, the total number of hospitals rose up to 281 and 1,707 primary health centers with total 41,789 beds.
In 2002, the Saudi health system was established to insure integrate health care to all population in Saudi Arabia in organized and affordable manner.

Primary – Primary Health Care or PHC refers to "essential health care" which makes universal health care accessible to all individuals and families of the country. It is a type of healthcare provided in the community for people making an initial approach to a medical practitioner or clinic for treatment.
Secondary- In which medical care is provided by a specialist or facility upon referral by a primary care physician and that requires more specialized knowledge, skill, or equipment than the primary care physician can provide.
Tertiary - It is specialized health care, usually for inpatients and on referral from a primary or secondary health professional, it is personnel facilities for advanced medical investigation and treatment.

Challenges Saudi government facing-
Saudi Arabia struggling with high costs along with concerns about the quality of treatment in its public hospitals and to address such issues, they are currently restructuring healthcare system to privatize public hospitals and introducing insurance coverage for both its citizens and foreign workers.
Another thing is that there has been limited coordination between government agencies with respect to sharing resources, especially when it comes to costly medical equipment and infrastructures.
There are issues including inadequate provision of care, long wait times in hospitals and discrimination between paying and insured patients.
Dependency of country on non-Saudi citizens who constitute approximately 58 percent of health workforce despite continuous efforts to invest in medical education
Saudi Arabia witnessing changes in disease patterns from communicable to chronic diseases, that is becoming more prevalent and possess a great challenge to the Saudi population as well as increased burden to existing healthcare services.
