How do you distinguish between data, knowledge, and wisdom? How do you distinguish between tacit knowledge and explicit knowledge? Provide some examples of how businesses use these concepts and how you have personally used these concepts.
Data is unprocessed information. Anything expressed in digital form is called as data
Knowledge: Knowledge helps us to transform data to information. e.g. Rules, algorithms, interpreters
Wisdom: Specialized knowledge that help to improve effectiveness of apllication of knowledge.
Tacit knowledge is the knowledge of things without receiving explanation e.g. experience; explicit knowledge is the knowing of things that need to be explicitly explained; Explicit knowldge is written down in a structured manner e.g. data, documents.
Busnesses classify knowledge the encounter in their daily operations and find ways to make it easily shareable to improve knowldge of organization as a whole. Tacit knowledge cannot be shared very easily; whereas explicit knowldge can be documented very easily.
I have used this concepts to gain knowledge which is tacit by interacting various peole and observing tem how they work. Tacit knowledge is similar to unspoken truth. It has to be considered irrspective of its feasibilty of use. For gaining explicit knowldge, I have gone through various documents and procedures laid down by the organization.
