1. Sexual identity refers to an individual’s orientation towards another individual of the same sex and/or opposite sex in terms of sexual attraction or having a romantic inclination towards that person. Thus, a person can identify as a homosexual, bisexual, heterosexual. In recent times, sexuality activists and scholars have also contested for a fourth category of asexual identity where a person may not feel sexually inclined towards anyone.
2. Infertility is a medical condition that pertains to the inability to produce a fertilised egg after copulation. It is found in both men and women equally. It hasn’t been medically found that the declining sperm counts, testicular abnormalities, and decreased reach of climax are common causes of infertility in men. The most common causes of infertility in womenare a blockage in the Fallopian tubes, endometriosis, PCOS, and advanced maternal age which affects egg quality/quantity.
Infertility rates have shown a rise over the decade in the United States. Infertility has been seen to be a major cause of disputes and conflicts in relationships between couples when either or both sides may be seeking to conceive an offspring. The difficulty in getting pregnant and spending countless hours and money on treatments like in-vitro fertilization (IVF can be stressful. Moreover, it can result in feelings of guilt, shame, and disappointment all of which can add to arguments and conflicts in the relationship and even sexual pleasures.
3. Abortion is defined as the termination of pregnancy by removing an embryo or fetus before it can survive outside the uterus. An abortion that occurs spontaneously is also known as a miscarriage. Most of the abortions within the United States take place in the first trimester from the gestation period and are most commonly found among women in their early twenties.
4. Women who eat well and exercise regularly along with regular prenatal care are less likely to have complications during pregnancy. A healthy and balanced diet with higher intake of calories and macronutrients proteins, carbohydrates and fat along with essential vitamins( mainly Vitamin B12, Vitamin D, Vitamin C, Vitamin A and E) and minerals such as iron, calcium, would be advised to a pregnant woman and it would be highlighted that a balanced diet will help reduce the risks of anemia, as well as other unpleasant pregnancy symptoms such as fatigue and morning sickness and help during the process of labour and delivery. Women who eat well and exercise regularly along with regular prenatal care in the form of medical checkups, avoiding over consumption of intoxicating substances, tobacco, nicotine and drugs, are less likely to have healthier babies and help assure a normal cognitive and physiological development of their infant’s brain, healthy birth weight and reduce birth related defects.
