We have learned a lot about health care policy this semester and all of the components that go into making a policy and law. Please discuss if you think the process is flawed or is still effective. Did this course change your view of the process? Explain.
The components that is involved in the making of policies and laws are:
1. Contextual factors-such as economic, social, cultural and ideological factors that influence the federal decision making process.
2. Consistency activities both inside and outside the federal government.
3. Ideas and perception of participants involved in the decision making process.
4. Media presentations including the print media.
5. Research on building knowledge for the concepts involved in the policies.
6. Other salient forces influencing federal policy towards children and their affiliated families.
All of the above factors are highly pertinent in the policy making process. These factors influence the decision if a policy needs to be made or not. The changes in the demographic and political factors also are involved in the process. This process is the most effective method as it considers the policy factors from all angles. The viewpoint of several constituencies and the public is heard before a decision is made. Personally speaking, I believe that this policy making process is the most effective method as it includes all factors that influence the stakeholders involved in the policies and laws.
