What were the main social, political, and economic factors in the early nineteenth century that encouraged the massive physical expansion of the United States?

1. economic factors
a) Changing from Manufacturing by Hand to Industrial Manufacturing.
b) Manufactured goods were now produced outside the home in small factories that allowed mass production of goods.
c) The invention of the cotton gin allowed cotton production to dominate the economy and made its exportation a vital force for the entire American economy.
d) A national transportation and communication network was created to link people and goods between regions.
2. social factors
a) Society made its first large shift from rural to urban and at the same time, the U.S. population boomed.
b) Women's role in society was redefined at the same time that the family structure was reorganized.
c) Marriage was delayed until a man was sufficiently established to support a wife and family, thus resulting in smaller families.
d) Wealth became a sign of American status and a symbol of respect and recognition.
e) Environmental degradation occurred.
f) Society became more urbanized and multicultural due to immigration of foreigners and northern migration of blacks.
political factors:-
a) More people gained a sense of national identity, without giving up their regional and state identities.
b) More people were eligible to vote.
c) By 1840, more than 90% of adult white males in the nation could vote.
these all factors together encouraged the massive expantion of the united states.
