1)Mortar Volume-Brick joints
From the given information ,first let us calculate the volume of mortar required for the mortar joints,
Volume of mortar required per brick=(T x W(L+H+T)
T-Mortar thickness
W-Width of the brick
L-Length of the brick
H-Height of the brick
Volume of mortar =(0.5 x 2.25(8+3.75+0.5)
=33.68 cubic inch
Adding 25% wastage, total volume of mortar required =42.1 Cubic inch
=0.0243 cft
Total number of bricks including 3% wastage =982 nos
For Mortar volume we need to consider without wastage.
Hence total number of bricks= 982/1.03 =953 bricks
Total total colume of mortar required for brick joints=953 x 0.0243=23.1 cft
Mortar volume between the Wythes
Now let us calculate the volume of mortar required between the wythes
Area of the wall = 8 x 14=252 sft
Area of the opening =4 x 6 =24 sft
Net area = 252-24=228 sft
Thickness of the mortar =0.5 inch i..e,0.04 ft
Volume of mortar between wythes =228 x0.04
=9.12 Cft
Total Mortar Volume
Total Mortar Volume=Mortar volume for brick joints + Mortar volme between the wythes
=23.1 + 9.12
=32.22 Cft
