comparison and differentiate physical and chemical properties of aluminium, aluminium oxide and aluminium chloride
Aluminium:
At room temperature it is a metal, It appears as a silvery-white, soft, nonmagnetic and ductile metal.
Reacts with strong acids and evolves hydrogen gas. 2Al + 6 HCl → 2AlCl3 + 3 H2
corrosion resistant metal.
Aluminium oxide:
Aluminium oxide (Al2O3), is a white solid amorphous compound, also called as alumina (used as a stationary phase material in chromatography). Aluminium oxide is an amphoteric substance, meaning it can react with both acids and bases.
Al2O3 + 6 HF → 2 AlF3 + 3 H2O
Al2O3 + 2 NaOH + 3 H2O → 2 NaAl(OH)4
Aluminium chloride:
Aluminium chloride has chemical formula AlCl3, white amorphous salt that is highly soluble in water, acidic in nature when hydrolyzed and conducts electricity, reacts with strong bases and forms white aluminium hydroxide as a precipitate.
AlCl3 + 3 NaOH → Al(OH)3 + 3 NaCl
