ANS 1. Better a lie that soothes than a truth that hurts.” Do you agree? Why or why not? Use specificr reasons and examples to explain your answer.

According to this it is a CON . It is better to tell the truth that hurts rather than a lie that soothes this is because we should think about the long term benifit rather than the short term happiness or content. When we tell the truth to a person that hurts him / her it will affect them for a short time but will give them a clear picture or idea that they should do or should not do, but if we tries to please them with a lie that may make them happy for a short time but will not help them in future in any way.

Example :

If your friend ask you about your opinion regarding there dance that he / she wishes to upload on the internet and wishes to pursue as a carrier and that dance you didn't like and wants them to learn more in order to pursue it as a carrier. If you will lie in this case your friend might feel good about himself but this will impact there future in a negative way. In this case saying the truth might hurt your friend at that moment but they will be able to sharpen there skills more and thus will able to dance better than before and will get appreciation on the internet and this will lead to there better future.

This is a clear example that shows that telling truth may hurt but will surely benifit in the long run.
