social disorganization theory is a great theory to explain juvenile delinquency.
The social disorganisation theory has been very well able to explain the theories of juvenile delinquency. According to this theory, it is stated that the physical as well as social environment around a person is responsible for for the choices of behavior that they make. This implies that, the location in which a person is growing up is important and would be influencing the choices that they would be making. The basic concept of this theory states that spending on the location of a person, their criminal activities could be predicted. It is noted that locations in which there is incereased prevalence of poverty or physical dilapidation, individuals would be exposed to abnormal conditions and subsequently be tended to carry out actions that deviate from the norm. This theory could be used for predicting the violence of youth as well as the crime committed by them.
It states that individuals living in such underprivileged neighbourhoods would be disadvantaged at many levels and there would be lack of community based controls. This leads to an urban disadvantage. As a result of this, the disadvantaged neighbourhoods would be leading to inculcation of normal values of criminality in the individuals and these would be replacing the normal values in the society.
This theory justifies criminal actions more, since, it has been able to predict that the residential environment of a person is largely responsible in determining their aptitude. This shows that nurture is important for the bringing up of a person.
