One page summary of cardiac tissue engineering.
Cardiac tissue engineering(CTE) is to create contractile heart muscle tissue to replace damage or dysfunction of parts of the heart.due to myocardial function which leads to cardiac repair.The main targets in CTE are blood vessels,heart tissue,heart valves.CTE is hydrogel,biodegradable polymeric scaffold and decellularized tissue.It regenerates involve myocardiam trannsplantation of cells to infarcted area.They are various conductive polymers polypyrrole,polyanniline,poly thiophene derivatives.Gel substrates used for cardiac engineering include collagen,matrigel,fibrin ang hyluronic acid.
The main approach of CTE is cardiac grafts,either whole heart substitutes or tissues that can be effeciently implanted in organism regenerating the tissue and giving whole functional heart without side effects such as immunogenicity.
The main steps involved in cardiac tissue engineering involves following steps:
1. Scaffold material selection
2. Scaffold material production
3. Cellular selection
4. In vitro cell culture
1. SCAFFOLD MATERIAL SELECTION
One of the most important classes of biomaterials comprises polymers which are available at different composition and properties.Polyurethane is a material for poous scaffolds for myocardial regeneration.
2 SCAFFOLD MATERIAL PRODUCTION
An important issue as an object of invstigation for groups involevd in tissue engineering of myocardium .one of the method is cardiac cellular myoplsty.
3. CELLULAR SELECTION
The cellular cardiomyoplasty is based on cellular transplantation consiting of supplying cells to the injured myocardial tissue aiming for regeneration of cardiac tissue.
4. IN VITRO CELL CULTURE
To promote increased proliferation,differenciation and maturation the invitro cell culture of some cell types is performed in specialized cell culture facilities.
Twenty years of cardiac tissue engineering have thought number of lessons regarding tho cardiac optimization.
