Is there an ethical problem if leaders focus more on looking like a leader than actually being one? Discuss.
please i need a long answer
An Ethical Leadership is derived from the five principles:
When we talk about a leader which focuses more on looking like a leader than actually being one, he/she is being wrong in all the principles that drive an ethical leadership. Let’s have a look at each one of therm.
Respect: Respecting the individual and his needs is one of the basic quality of being an ethical leader. If a leader is focusing more on looking like a leader he actually not concerned about what the individual wants but is more concerned about his own image. This in turn shows the less respect for others need
Service: By not being involved in actually being a leader, he is failing in the service that should be provided to other. He would only fake of servicing the people but would not actually do it.
Community: An ethical leader thinks about the community first. A person who is more concerned about looking like a leader is actually thinking about himself and his image before the community. He is not being true to his work.
Justice: Justice has various definitions. The person here is being unjust to his work and the people depending on him to solve the issues.
Honesty: A person who believes in showing more than doing can never be honest. Work speaks for itself and if someone is just showing rather than working, it means he is being dishonest in telling what had actually being done. His is dishonest to the community. Dishonesty is and ethical issue.
A person who believes in showing more than doing is being unethical at the fundamental level of leadership.
