What is the role of the information and news media in the shaping of political opinions?
(This is for a humanities course exploring the effects of the media on American culture.)
We are living in a digital world and
information technology world where the amount of information
available and the tools available to access those information are
countless. This information that we receive today about lots of
things happening in the world is affecting the way we perceive the
world around us. All these information affects the way we think act
and react to those information.
Political news today is available in printed media and on digital
platforms shape the political opinions of people. The problem with
media today is that all the political parties have their own media
that promote their political agenda to influence the minds of the
people by selectively publishing information and manipulating the
information in their favour.
They also at times telecast false information about the other
parties thus creating a platform where they could play strong. The
advantage of the media today is that they are in all forms such as
print, online etc. thus continuously reinforcing the opinions of
the common people.
