Analysis of the Shoe Corporation of Illinois.(SCI)-
Shoe Corporation of Illinois (SCI) produces and sells women’s shoes for lower price market range from $27.99 to $29.99.Profit average from30 cents to 50 cents per pair has downsized to 25 to 30 cents per pair due to increase in cost. Produces approximately 12500 pairs per day. SCI has two factories located : One at Centerville which produces 4500 pairs per day Another at meadow produces 8000 pairs per day. SCI offers 100 to 120 different products.
1- Analyze the organizational structure of Shoe Corporation, including how the corporate culture there has impacted the structure.
the organization structure of SCI is very simple means is functional organization structure in which all the functions are performed by the managers based on thier functional department like production manager handles production process like procurement of raw materials, shoe making, quality management etc while finance manager handles the finance & accounting statements & activities etc & marketing & sales manager handles the sales, promotion & marketing activies.in this organization structure the authority direct from top to bottom means top management makes all the strategy & lower department follow them.
yes corporate culture can be impacted by the organizational styructure if SCI goes under function organizational to divisional organization structure then it would have to oeprate in different divisions as individual business units in which people would be different in terms of culture,language,beliefs,ethinicity etc which can impact the overall corporate culture of SCI.
2- What suggestions do you have for improvement in information flow?
flow of information is neccessary because it is used to make improtant business decisions.the flow of information can be increased if company implement information technology system in the organization structure by which company can record,process,share & transfer the information within the country business as well outside the country business in less time.
3- How would you characterize the current interdependence between departments? What management techniques would you use to help facilitate change given the interdependence within the company?
according to the current organization structure, company functions as different department which means they have an overall common goals to achieve but they prefer to achieve thier current department goals.
for example- production department is in race to achieving the production target for the month
sales department is in the race to achieve the sales taregt of the month etc.
instead they should be more interdepend because even though departments are different but their activities are related.
the management can adopt following techniques -

innovation is the technique or method to improve the existing product or services, the intention of president is to change the shoes styles frequently is required innovation because everytime you change shoestyles does not mean that product is innovative because it has lost the x factor & people are getting used to such changes so president must focus on adding extra benefits or quality to shoes so that customers can think of shoes as innovative.
