The major factors an employer should consider avoiding
arbitrarily terminating an employee are:
- Not to terminate the employee on the basis of something
unrelated to work.
- Not to terminate the employee on the basis that he has filed a
complaint against the organization for some wrong practices such as
discrimination.
- The employee should be provided a valid reason when he is
dismissed and employer should follow this rule.
- The company should follow its own termination procedures while
terminating the employees and this should be kept in mind.
The steps I could take if I was terminated by an
employer who arbitrarily fired me are:
- First I will try to remain calm, respectful and professional
and ask for the reason for which I was fired.
- I will ask if there are any ways wich which I can stay.
- I may also ask if I can resign instead of being fired
If the above mentioned steps do not work then I will
proceed with:
- I will research on what legal steps I have and if it has been
done earlier, if the answer is yes I will find out what happened in
that case.
- I will keep everything documented so that that can be used in
the court of law.
- Next step is I will reach out to a lawyer and get the legal
representation, I will see what all options do I have and then will
proceed accordingly.
- If I choose the legal route I will keep myself ready for
whatever comes next.
