censored data- what does it mean and why include it ?
Censored data is partially unknown observations where there is some limited information about the outcome. We know that they exist but we are unable to know their precise values.Censored values are reported as less than some values, greater than some values or within the given limited interval. It occurs when incomplete information is available about the survival time of some individual in real life situation.Example, Health insurance and survival time of individual.
It is widely used in separation of data, survival analysis etc. Analysis of data includes both the times to failure for the observations that failed and times to termination for those observations that did not fail.
