How can drug active release in the stomach be avoided for an ingested peroral OTC drug product. (Short answer)
Solution:
OTG (Over The Counter Drug) products play a vital role in America's health care system. OTC drugs are the drugs which are safe and effective for use by the general public without seeking treatment by a health professional.
OTG is an inhibitor of H+, K+, ATPase. This drug inhibits the activity of H+, K+, ATPase in the gastric parietal cells and blocks the final stage of hydrochloric acid (HCl) secretion in the stomach. This leads to a reduction in basal and stimulated secretion in the stomach. Due to the reduction of acid secretion, OTG reduces or normalizes the effects of acid in the oesophagus in patients with reflux esophagitis.
OTG drug has a bactericidal effect on Helicobacter pylori. Eradication of Helicobacter pylori allows to take a high degree of healing of damaged mucosa and persistent long-term remission and reduce the bleeding from the gastrointestinal tract of patients.
After oral administration, OTG drug is rapidly absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract and then the drug penetrates the parietal cells of gastric mucosa.
In this way, the drug active release in the stomach is avoided by an ingested peroral OTG drug product.
