Expert Solution

A. CH3NH2 + H2O(l) -------------------> CH3NH3^+ (aq) + OH^- (aq)

B. C5H5N    + H2O(l) ------------------> C5H5NH^+ (aq) + OH^- (aq)

2.    C6H5NH2 + H2O --------------> C6H5NH3^+ (aq) + OH^- (aq)

         E         0.055-x                                           +x                         +x

                          Kb   = [C6H5NH3^+][OH^-]/ [C6H5NH2]

                         4.3*10^-10   =   x*x/0.055-x

                          4.3*10^-10*(0.055-x) = x^2

                          x   = 4.86*10^-6

                      [OH^-]   =   x    = 4.86*10^-6M

                        POH    = -log[OH^-]

                                   = -log4.86*10^-6

                                   = 5.3133

                       PH     = 14-POH

                                = 14-5.3133   = 8.6867 >>>>answer
