Acid: The compound which gives H+ ion in aqeous solution is called as an acid.
Strong acid: The acid which is completly ionized is called as strong acid.
Weak acid: The acid which is partially ionized is called as weak acid.
Base: The compound which gives OH- ion aqueous solution is called as base.
Strong base: The base which is completly ionized is called as strong base.
weak base: The base which is partially ionized is called as weak base.
The compound which can donate lone pair of electrons is also called as base. (Lewis base)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
KOH : It gives OH- ion in aquous solution. so it is a base and completly ionize so strong base.
Ca(OH)2: It gives OH- ion in aquous solution. so it is a base and completly ionize so strong base.
H2SO4 : It gives H+ ion in aquous solution. so it is an acid and completly ionize so strong acid.
HI: It gives H+ ion in aquous solution. so it is an acid and completly ionize so strong acid.
HCOOH : It gives H+ ion in aquous solution. so it is an acid and partially ionize so weak acid.
NaOH : It gives OH- ion in aquous solution. so it is a base and completly ionize so strong base.
HCN: It gives H+ ion in aquous solution. so it is an acid and partially ionize so weak acid.
C5H5N: it can donate lone pair of electrons ( present on nitrogen) so it is a base and weak base.
