What are some ways the retirement of a spouse can bring stress to a marriage? Is retirement likely to be less stressful in households where both spouses work, or twice as stressful?

Through your married life,you have respected one onother right to privacy .Now you are loking at the prospect of spending 24 hours a day with your partner..For many unhappy couples ,the problem starts when they do not have the same expection of retirement.The stress in a marriage is likely to be more intense if one partner retires before trhe other.Marriage is an institution that needs to be worked on throughout life and not put off till the retirement.Many retired couples spend their remaining years together,miserable because they can not adjust with one onother.Even marriage es that have nbeen relatively good during the years of employment often struggled somewhat when husband and wife spend most of everyday with each other.That is because retirement changes so many aspects of married life and adjustment must be made.It is not uncommon to see couples who have been married through their working lives decide to have a divorce post retirement.After retirement, rather than building a relationship based on mutual respect ans sensitivity ,they started ignore each other and missing out on a life time of merital happiness..
The thought of spending the entire day at home is a chellange. How would both the partners go through 24 hours a day in the same space and yet try to try to give sufficient space to each other.In some cases the wife might find that retirement makes their relationship even worst just from the aadded time together. Two people spending day after day in close proximity can be stressfull.

Retirement stress(Negative shades): If both of the partners are working, retirement can be more stressful for them. Throughout their life, they have worked and now they have to spend full time with each other. It is difficult to adjust this routine because boht of them were busy in their fields of work. They had professional commitment and responsibilities and a very busy routine. After retirement they have a lot of time and they dont understand how to spent that much time with each other.From financial point of view, now they do not get money as earlier .That looses their confidence.Thus we can say if both the partners are working, retirement can be more srtressful.

Positive effects of retirement : Retirement can be less stressful if both the partners are working. Both of the partner get more time for their creativity and for their interests. They can have more friends and social relations and can actively participate in social activities. Now they can better take care of their health. Financily they are in a very stable and good stage now. Thus retirement can be less stressful for both of the partners.
