Expert Solution

In a healthcare scene, the application of value stream mapping would show immense application. We can also make use of error proofing principles of “poka-yoke” methodology.

Value stream mapping would allow the organization to create a high-level representation of its function, determine what the problem is,and then use a continuous improvement process to ensure the best possible pathway can be followed in order to minimize errors and maximize efficiency by waste reduction and streamlining the process chain altogether.

Poka-yoke or error-proofing would be used in a different context altogether. We will determine a single problem area to focus upon and then make use of data collection in order to collect necessary data to then be able to utilize a root cause analysis like Ishikawa diagram or Pareto chart, or even make of quality control processes by building a control chart p[rocess to specifically monitor the process and determine why and when a process has gone out of control, to then look into the problem at a more granular level, fixing the processes from the ground up, combined with a higher-order program like value stream mapping to constantly ensure that a lean methodology is completely being organized and followed by the organization for maximum efficiency or minimum waste production.
