a. Monitoring is the routine collection of information to track system activities and progress, evaluation is used to determine the relevance and fulfilment of efficiency, effectiveness, impact and sustainability on the organisation network. Explain the Realtime Monitoring Process and give examples of some tools that can be used to accomplish this.
b. c) Explain the advantages of configuring network equipment to process SNMP packets only from particular IP ranges.
a. Real Time monitoring process:
In this process, as certain functions are performed on data in real time, they are monitored and the impact on the network and data itself is evaluated as well. It is helpful when there is a need to gain insights and have instant notifications.
The software used for real time monitoring has a dashboard and screen where the data is displayed. Different ranges in different formats can be shown on the screen. It can be graphs, lines, pie charts etc. And the data is usually network latency, transaction times, CPU utilization, response time of applications, etc.
The process involves the use of sensors as well which is used to measure various parameters as they occur.
Examples of tools used:
Various tools used for real time monitoring are Cisco AppDynamics, SignalFX, Quest software, etc. Apart from that PRTG monitor, and Solarwinds monitor is also used.
b. Advantages:
