The monitoring, diagnosis and evaluation report of the baby confirms infection in the digestion system with frequent diarrhea. The stools are loose with foul smelling indication infection in the digestive tract. This condition is common in acute gastroenteritis. The stools become loose with formation of mucus and formation of slimy material. Persistent diarrhea can lead to dehydration and weight loss. Few common microbes that can cause diarrhea infection include Campylobacter, Ecoli, Staphylococcus aureus, Salmonella, Shigella, or Vibrio infection. Diarrhea can also be caused by protozoan infection also. Wright stain is used for the identification of the infected white blood cells in the stool. A sample can be collected from the rectum of the baby and that be then used for culturing further to determine the type of the microbial pathogen causing infection. Diarrhea can also be caused due to infection caused by Rotavirus. A dose of liquid electrolytes containing salt and glucose is given to the patient to prevent the chances of dehydration. Ecoli causes hemolytic uremia with passing of bloody stools in diarrhea. This occurs due to the release of a toxin by Ecoli that causes colitis and inflammation of the digestive system.

Oral rehydration therapy with intravenous injection of fuids is given to prevent the chances of hypoglycemia and dehydration. There are imbalances in the levels of salts that lead to alterations in the metabolism of salt and electrolyte ions in the human body. Ringer solution is also given as a form of therapy. The preferable food items during diarrhea are rice, bananas and bread. The diarrhea caused due to Staphylococcus infection causes nausea, pain, vomiting and abdominal pain. Diarrhea due to Shigella infection causes the passing of the bloody stools with a high grade fever that lasts for a few days. Diarrhea due to Vibrio infection causes the passing of the watery stools. Various protozoans like Giardia, Entamoeba histolytica and Microsporidium also cause the occurrence of the disease diarrhea.
