what is the molarity of a KOH solution if 24.6 ml neutralizes 44.0
mL of a 0.211 M HCI?
The neutralization reaction involves here :
KOH + HCl KCl + H2O
Given that molarity of HCl is 0.211M that means molarity of H+ ions in HCl is 0.211M as well.we will find out the no.of moles of H+ ions by the formula :
molarity = no. of moles / volume in L
no.of moles of H+ ions = 0.211 M x 0.0440 L
= 0.0093 moles
As it's a neutralization reaction so the 0.0093 moles of H+ ions will neutralize 0.0093 moles of OH- ions of KOH.
So the molarity of KOH solution = 0.0093moles / 0.0246L
= 0.378 M
