although moving onto land had its benefits plants, were faced with some major challenges if they were to be successful. please explain two benefits and two challenges they faced and describe adaptations they evolved to meet both
challenges faced by plants during their transition from water to land and the adaptations that they developed to over those challenges and what are the benefits of colonizing land
Answer:-Plants have not always spread throughout the world, as they do now. Everything life began in the ocean and the plants had to migrate to land like animals. The first photosynthetic organisms to migrate to land were cyanobacteria, bacteria which can photosynthesize. They got there about 1.2 billion years ago, before the bandwagon was jumped by anyone else.
Nonetheless, for half a billion years cyanobacteria had the place to themselves, and during that time made some pretty nice home improvements. They released tons of oxygen into the atmosphere, which made land an enticing place to live.
Challenges :-
Less water, so plants did not need to dry out
Anti-gravity support
Benefits of living on land:
Sunlight is brighter because it does not have to travel through water for the first time.
More atmospheric carbon dioxide than at the ocean.
Plant algal predecessors have had uncomplicated bodies. We use the term thallus to describe an alga's body which has no roots, stems or leaves. This works for algae, because they are protected physically by the water they live in. Plants have had to develop new mechanisms to cope with land-based living. New structures included by which plants were created.
