what significant challenges exist with crime reporting and how can these challenges be overcome?
Although there are many ways through which one could report a crime such as calling the national emergency number, calling local police station, approaching a charitable movement etc. there are also few challenges present in this process.
One of the most important challenges that the person reporting faces, is the anonymity. Everyone who reports a crime is known to the offenders which will in turn put their life in danger. So, this has to be taken care of by protecting the identity of the one who reports. Another challenge is the time it takes for a victim to reach the relevant department and get the help on time. This furthers the on time help and disrupts the reporting. Another important challenge is the person’s mental state while reporting a crime because crime reporting needs very detailed information regarding the crime. Finally, there should be enough number of police stations and institutions that would facilitate the crime reporting.
