Describe the interlink between migration, urbanization and development.
Development is a process which is associated with growth, progress and bringing about positive change in the economy which even adds to economic, social, environmental and physical growth.
Development in a region leads to migration of population from less developed areas to more developed areas in search of jobs, better opportunities, resources, thus there is a positive relationship between development and migration.
Now, due to migration, availability of physical labour and other human resources increase in an economy which leads to urbanisation. Usually the movement is from less developed rural areas to more developed urban areas. This movement is called urbanisation. Therefore urbanisation and migration are also positively related.
In the end, as urbanisation increases, it is seen that development also rises. Thus leading us back to the start of the cycle.
Though it must be noted that the quantum of change must be sustainable otherwise, the same very high migration and urbanisation might even affect development.
