The best way I know I’m not dreaming right now is the fact that
I can question my reality here right now and not have it effect
anything. Reality is consistent and reliable right now and the fact
that I can read the question correctly and answer to it.
In a dream we may or may not suspect that it is a dream, but
while awake, a healthy person can have no doubt that they are
awake. This is not because of any logical analysis of the content
of the experience, but because reality feels different than a
dream.
The thing about waking reality is that it connects with
seamlessly with our memories and conceptions about how the world
works. Dreams aren't like that. We may not be consciously analyzing
the "realness" of reality, but it all fits together with what we
expect to be happening.
If we were born in a dreaming coma, and lived a whole life
without ever waking up, there would be no expectation of realism or
fantasy, not logical analysis which could lead you out into the
world of your body.
But on the other hand, you may realize how in dreams our sense
of reality is disabled and we submit our attention to the most
ridiculous dramas and scenarios. In dreams, we make the strangest
“logical” associations that amount to no logic at all, have little
say in what happens to us, do things impulsively, and never
question our reality or observe ourselves.
Because people tend to be mentally asleep while going about
their daily business, they carry out exactly the same behavior. All
that limits them is the stability of their physical
environment.

Guy Keehn is dreaming of retiring at the age of 66, 3 years from
now. He would like his retirement plan to provide him with $1,800 a

A major topic in domestic policy right now is immigration
reform. If you were in the United States Congress, what would your
priorities be in terms of immigration and why? One major issue that
must be addressed is what to do about the immigration status of
individuals who are currently living in the United States in an
unauthorized capacity - some people believe those individuals
should be given an “easier” path to citizenship because they are
already here and in...
