How is evolution affecting us/our world right now, as we speak?
"Evolution will fundamentally alter how species and ecosystems respond to environmental change".
"Evolution therefore needs to be an integral part of our assessments of biodiversity and ecosystem services."
The evolution is a constant slow process that all beings have.
Evolution takes place at the scale of a population, not a the scale of a specie or an individual.
It is a modification in the gene pool of a population.
We never stopped evolving, like many people seem to think, we are constantly doing it (the gene pool of the different human populations will constantly be modified, be it only by immigration and emigration).
However, with the means and the technology we have now we are more likely to control our evolution (ex: transplants, work on DNA, control of our environment.)
The world is changing. Every day we hear alarming reports of shifting temperature regimes, rising sea levels, diminishing glaciers, and dramatically altered species distributions and abundances.
