19.7 Consider an AISI 4135 steel in which all of the alloying elements have the mean or average value of their ranges.
(a) Determine its ideal critical diameter.
(b) Determine the maximum diameter of a bar of this material that can be quenched so as to obtain a 50 percent martensite–50 percent pearlite structure at its center when given a poor oil quench.
(c) Make the same computation, but now assume that the bar is given a brine quench.
