Which is more prevalent in younger children, assimilation or accommodation? How about in adults

Solutions

Expert Solution

Assimilation is more prevalent in younger children as it suggests in changing a few concepts they have already build to understand a specific concept. When accommodation takes into existence, it makes the ounger children feel like their previous understanding about those things were of one category of big division and they try to form a new category and start analysing the things. Later they are ready to adopt any changes and they will start preparing many new categories inorder to add new information as they are learning each day.

When these assimilation and accommodation are considered, Only younger children feels easy to learn new things and adopt changes in their pre defined structures in learning but for adults, it is really difficult as the learning of new things doesnot comes under their existing category that they have already created and it is even difficult for them to create a new strategy now in order to incorporate their learning with their existing categoies.

Let's see this with example, it is easy for a person to learn a new language when they are young than in their old ages. This is simply said as the learning becomes tougher with the old ages.
