Our professor wants a short report for the followin question. My class is Signals and Systems. The book we are using is Signals and systems second edition by Simon Hykin and Barry Van Veen

(B) Define the following terminologies: noise, interference, and jamming.

Solutions

Expert Solution

Noise - Noise is an unwanted signal which is present with the desired signal. It is the greatest enemy of the communication channel. Noise signal is usually refers to any ratio of useful information to irrelevant information. Noise reduces the quality of signals. It occurs in digital as well as analogue systems. Noise is more significant problem in wireless system than in hardwired systems. Now a days communication engineers are constantly struggling to develop better ways to deal with to deal with noise. Noises are of mainly two types white noise or Gaussian noise and coloured noise. White Noise called white because it affects all the frequency components of a signal equally. Coloured noises are those which affacts different frequency components differently.

Interference - It is defined as anything which modifies, alters, or disturbs a message signal is said to be interference of signal. It is of many types -

Adjacent channel interference - this interference is caused by extraneous power from a signal in an adjacent channel.

Co channel interference - it is also known as cross talk

Electromagnetic interference - it affacts the electrical circuits.

Intercarrier interference - it is caused by Doppler Shift in ofdm modulation.

Intersymbol interference - it is a form of disturbance of a signal in which one symbol interferes with subsequent symbols.

Jamming - jamming is babasical blocking the signal or interference with authorised wireless communication. Jammers work by the transmission of radio signals that interrupt the signal by decreasing the signal to noise ratio. Jamming is usually different from interference because interference occurs due to device malfunctions but in the other hand jamming is applied to disrupt information flow. In the United States radio jamming devices are illegal. The device which is used for jamming the signals is called jammers.

QUESTION 13 Psychology Final Question 1 A professor teaches two sections of a Psychology class. The placement of the enrolled students in the two sections is done randomly. In Section 1, students are required to participate in weekly study groups. In Section 2, there is no such requirement. The data file FINAL.MWX (for Minitab 19) or FINAL.MTW (for Minitab 18) contains the final exam scores of students in these two sections. Let µ1 and µ2 denote the average score in...

A physics professor wants to perform a lecture demonstration of Young's double-slit experiment for her class using the 633nm light from a He-Ne laser. Because the lecture hall is very large, the interference pattern will be projected on a wall that is 6.0m from the slits. For easy viewing by all students in the class, the professor wants the distance between the m=0 and m=1 maxima to be 30cm . What slit separation is required in order to produce the...
