The greek prefixs are used to define number of element present in a given molecule.
Binary molecular compound is made of two differnt nonmetal elements.
There are maily four rules that follows to naming of Binary molecule.
i ) first part of molecule written as the element wihch has lower group number and second part the element which has higher group number.
ii) if both elements comes from same group, then we consider period number. higher period number writes first in name.
iii) If second element will anion then add -ide in suffix .
iv)The greek prefixs are used to define number of atom present in a given molecule.
yes,it will apply to binary molecular compound.
(2)
simple Acid can also pronounced as binary acid. when it dissolved in water gives anion.for these ions we add -ide in suffix.Acid naming start with prefix Hydro ,and end with anoin name by adding suffix -ide.
for bases , there are two types bases considerd a) strong bases b) weak bases
when strong bases dissolved in to water it gives hydoxide ion. so we use hydroxide as suffix
example NaOH : Sodium Hydroxide
weak bases are organic compound which has covalent bond. they follows the rule for naming of organic compound.
Ternary molecular compound made of metal and polyatomic ion.
ternary molecular compound has two part one is anion and second is cation.
first name the metal cation.then name the polyatomic anion by balancing their ions. there is no need of Greek prefix because charge on metal is specified.
